Byron F. Ritchie

U.S. Congressman

Born in Grafton, Ohio, Ritchie moved with his parents to Toledo in 1860. He graduated from the Toledo High School in 1870. He studied law with his father and was admitted to the bar in 1874.

He was elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-third Congress, serving until 1895. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed his legal practice in Toledo. In 1914, he was elected judge of the court of common pleas of Lucas County and served until his death at age 75.
