Edward Drummond Libbey

(1854-1925)

Glass Pioneer

Toledo's glass pioneer, Libbey moved his  glass company to Toledo from East Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1888. Libbey's success attracted other glass businesses to the area making Toledo "THE GLASS CAPITAL".  He was the founder and major donor of The Toledo Museum of Art (1901).
