Grace Smith
(1883 - 1955)

Restaurateur

Smith was a prominent Toledo business woman who operated several restaurants, including the very popular Smith's Cafeteria at Erie and Madison.

She hired college graduate dietitians to head each food department at her cafeteria and used only fresh vegetables and fruits. Her reputation earned her the office of president of the National Restaurant Association. She was the first woman to hold that post.
