A prominent business man, Walbridge engaged in various successful business enterprises, ranging from a railroad, banking, real estate development, and industry.

He helped start and manage the Maumee Rolling Mill and served as president of the Board of Trade. He built the Nasby Tower and was a founder and first president of Woodlawn Cemetery.  Walbridge Park was named in his honor.
