Isaac R. Sherwood

Newspaper Editor, Legislator, and Civil War Veteran

Sherwood was a newspaper editor and printer. He served in the Civil War, attaining the rank of Major General in the Union Army.

Sherwood and his wife, Kate, had a newspaper and printing business in Bryan, OH, before coming to Toledo. He served in Congress from 1907-1921 and was the last Civil War veteran to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives.
