A Russian-American artist of note, Abramofsky was born in Kiev, Russia and came to Toledo to join an older brother. He was befriended by Mayor Brand Whitlock.

 

He studied art in Paris and London, then returned to make Toledo his home.  He turned to modern art and modernism.  He worked in all mediums and a critic described his work as among the best paintings then being produced in the U.S.
