Jacob Lasalle, a Civil War Veteran, co-founded Lasalle & Epstein Dry Goods Store in 1865 on Summit Street in Toledo. Like Tiedtke’s store, Lasalle’s was a well-known, and frequently visited department store that offered unique sales items and clever marketing.
