Kate Brownlee Sherwood

Sherwood was a journalist and poet who published two volumes of patriotic poems while her husband Isaac served during the Civil War.

She was a founder of The Women's Auxiliary to the G.A.R., and edited the National Tribune, the official GAR publication.  A WW II liberty ship was named in her honor.
